Managing Traumatic Stress - We're Here to Help
The Counseling Center offers a wide range of free and confidential clinical services including: substance abuse counseling, individual and group counseling, psychiatric services, workshops and crisis intervention for students.
The services of the Counseling Center are available Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. -4:30p.m. We also offer evening appointments by appointment only.
For emergencies that occur after office hours, on the weekends or on holidays when the center is not open, students are encouraged to either contact their local hospital emergency room, community health center or private physician. For students in the Newark area, the UMDNJ Psychiatric Emergency Room can be contacted at (973)972-6134.
If you are living on campus, please let your Residence Assistant or another housing or residence life staff member know that you are in crisis and they will help you to get the appropriate help.
