Where Can I Go For Help?

If you, a loved one or friend were recently sexually assaulted, there may be options for you to seek assistance immediately. If a sexual assault occurred within the past 5 days, and the survivor wishes to, they may choose to have evidence collected for purposes of a potential police report. The forensic examination is done at specific hospitals, and the survivor may choose to have a confidential advocate present for support. If the survivor is still within the 5 day window and wishes to request a Forensic Nurse Examination, they may report to the emergency room at one of the following hospitals. They may contact VPVA for assistance with transportation if they are unable to secure transportation themselves.

Essex County Hospital

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center

Saint Barnabas Medical Center

Saint Michael’s Medical Center

University Hospital
