"There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living." - Nelson Mandela
Consistent with the diversity of Rutgers-Newark's student body, the staff at the Rutgers-Newark Counseling Center also represents that same diversity. We are one staff, but represent many cultures, races, religions, and languages. Because this diversity is part of our personal and professional experiences, we are committed to providing our Rutgers-Newark students with counseling that not only addresses their mental and emotional needs but is also conscientious and inclusive of our students' many different identities. This is important in understanding the unique ways our students experience issues they face, as well as the solutions for these issues.
Our respect for diversity is first and foremost in how we approach students' concerns, which includes how, and if, we communicate with your parents, understanding the problem you are facing as you see it, respecting and appreciating your values and how they affect your view on the issue you have come to counseling to talk about.
